The View from the Firehouse

The one thing that is universal in fire stations the world round, is usually late at night there is a deck of cards, a pot of coffee and two or three fire fighters sitting around solving the worlds problems. It’s just a shame that no one listens to us.

Venting

This just sickens me. Let me tell you why:

Authorities are investigating how a convicted rapist was allowed to serve as a foster parent to as many as 50 children before his past was discovered.

Let me tell how it happened, my guess is that New York state government, like most other states, doesn't police it's self. It's much easier to react to something, than to prevent it. Or the paper work went though so many peoples' hands that it got lost in the shuffle.

"We are treating this matter very seriously," he said. "Children's safety and well-being are always our top priority. Every child deserves to be protected from sexual predators."

Bull crap because if it was your top priority, it wouldn’t have happened.

Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies are also investigating whether Chaney broke New York law by not registering as a sex offender when he moved to the state, Lt. Michael Petersen said.

Hmm... Doh

In the TV interview, Chaney said he had not known he was required to register in New York, but did so recently after he received a warrant for failing to.

Not buying it.

Ok, I don't know Mr. Chaney, he may be a nice who made a mistake in is past. But the fact of the matter is the govt. is falling to protect the people.
