The one thing that is universal in fire stations the world round, is usually late at night there is a deck of cards, a pot of coffee and two or three fire fighters sitting around solving the worlds problems. It’s just a shame that no one listens to us.

AZERBAIJAN (Forum 18 News)
Eighteen-month-old Luka Eyvazov is being refused a birth certificate. Despite repeated attempts by his parents, who are Baptists, the local civil registration officials in his village have refused to issue a birth certificate, because they do not wish to register children with Christian names. Without a birth certificate, Luka will not be able to go to school, get treatment in a hospital, or travel abroad.
Pray God will protect little Luka as he grows up in a hostile environment. Pray Luka's parents will remain faithful in their insistence that their son have an official Christian name. Pray the Lord will change the minds of the village officials, allowing them to relent and give Luka his official birth certificate.
CHINA (VOM sources)
One of China's most prominent house-church leaders, Pastor Zhang Rongliang, was arrested in his apartment December 1st. His wife and children, who were not at home when the arrest occurred, were able to escape and are now in hiding. The apartment was searched, and all Pastor Zhang's Christian DVDs, materials and photos revealing contact with foreigners and foreign agencies were confiscated. Mr. Gao Shunping, who helped Pastor Zhang get an ID so that he could travel, also disappeared. There has been no communication with Pastor Zhang, who has already spent 12 years in prison for his faith during five separate detentions since his secret baptism in 1969. He is the leader of the Fangcheng Mother Church and the China for Christ Church, which is one of the largest house-church networks in China, estimated to have more than 10 million members. Pray Jesus will comfort Pastor Zhang and keep his faith strong. Pray the Lord will protect his family, who is in hiding, and all the people whose names were discovered by the authorities. Pray publicity surrounding his arrest will bring about the release of Pastor Zhang and other Chinese imprisoned for their faith in Christ.
COLOMBIA (Compass Direct)
On November 26th, first-year theology student Luis Alberto Vera, 24, was arrested on charges of firearms trafficking and aggravated theft. His colleagues at the Biblical Seminary of Colombia in Medellin know it was a case of mistaken identity; but Vera, married with an infant son, faces a long and potentially expensive legal battle to prove his innocence. A spokesman of the Evangelical Council of Colombia says that across Colombia, at least 30 pastors and church leaders have been imprisoned as a result of anonymous "tips" from informants.
Pray God will move quickly to reveal the truth regarding the false charges against Vera. Pray those imprisoned unjustly will be faithful witnesses of Jesus' love to everyone they encounter. Pray the Holy Spirit will build up a strong body of believers in Colombia and move in miraculous power to stop the drug trafficking.
SRI LANKA (Christian Solidarity Worldwide)
The Believers' Church in a village in Western Sri Lanka was attacked December 2nd. More than 100 people arrived at the church and told the pastor to stop holding worship services. The crowd then warned him that if he did not close down the church, they would kill him. Later that night the church was attacked with stones and rocks, breaking roof tiles, a door and several windows. An Assemblies of God church has been attacked several times by people throwing excrement against the walls and in a later incident pouring engine oil into their well. Meanwhile a constitutional amendment is being proposed declaring Buddhism to be the state religion.
Pray God will strengthen the faith of all Christians in Sri Lanka. Pray their witness of bold belief and loving forgiveness will bring many into God's Kingdom. Pray God will move in power to prevent the institution of Buddhism as the state religion.
UKRAINE (Compass Direct)
On December 2nd, two men assaulted Stanislav Kasprov, director a Christian book publishing house outside the company offices in Cherkassy. He was about to leave that evening for the village of Verguni, to conduct a weekly worship service at a church he pastors there. The attackers beat him with a bat, leaving him bloodied and barely conscious. The attackers remain at large; and although their motives are unknown, evidence suggests that former operatives of the now defunct KGB may have perpetrated the assault.(Click here)
Pray the Lord will heal Kasprov's body quickly and completely. Pray this experience will embolden him to greater zeal in sharing his faith in the Lord. Pray his attackers will be apprehended, justly punished, and come to know the forgiving love of Jesus when they repent.
