The View from the Firehouse

The one thing that is universal in fire stations the world round, is usually late at night there is a deck of cards, a pot of coffee and two or three fire fighters sitting around solving the worlds problems. It’s just a shame that no one listens to us.

Thanks to The Voice of the Martyrs I will be posting weekly prayer updates from them, this one is a litte late but thats ok

Prayers for December 14, 2004
From The Voice of the Martyrs
The Voice of theMartyrs Visit: Persecution.com
Pray for AZERBAIJAN
AZERBAIJAN (Forum 18 News)
Eighteen-month-old Luka Eyvazov is being refused a birth certificate. Despite repeated attempts by his parents, who are Baptists, the local civil registration officials in his village have refused to issue a birth certificate, because they do not wish to register children with Christian names. Without a birth certificate, Luka will not be able to go to school, get treatment in a hospital, or travel abroad.

Pray God will protect little Luka as he grows up in a hostile environment. Pray Luka's parents will remain faithful in their insistence that their son have an official Christian name. Pray the Lord will change the minds of the village officials, allowing them to relent and give Luka his official birth certificate.

Pray for CHINA
CHINA (VOM sources)
One of China's most prominent house-church leaders, Pastor Zhang Rongliang, was arrested in his apartment December 1st. His wife and children, who were not at home when the arrest occurred, were able to escape and are now in hiding. The apartment was searched, and all Pastor Zhang's Christian DVDs, materials and photos revealing contact with foreigners and foreign agencies were confiscated. Mr. Gao Shunping, who helped Pastor Zhang get an ID so that he could travel, also disappeared. There has been no communication with Pastor Zhang, who has already spent 12 years in prison for his faith during five separate detentions since his secret baptism in 1969. He is the leader of the Fangcheng Mother Church and the China for Christ Church, which is one of the largest house-church networks in China, estimated to have more than 10 million members. (Click here)

Pray Jesus will comfort Pastor Zhang and keep his faith strong. Pray the Lord will protect his family, who is in hiding, and all the people whose names were discovered by the authorities. Pray publicity surrounding his arrest will bring about the release of Pastor Zhang and other Chinese imprisoned for their faith in Christ.

Pray for COLOMBIA
COLOMBIA (Compass Direct)
On November 26th, first-year theology student Luis Alberto Vera, 24, was arrested on charges of firearms trafficking and aggravated theft. His colleagues at the Biblical Seminary of Colombia in Medellin know it was a case of mistaken identity; but Vera, married with an infant son, faces a long and potentially expensive legal battle to prove his innocence. A spokesman of the Evangelical Council of Colombia says that across Colombia, at least 30 pastors and church leaders have been imprisoned as a result of anonymous "tips" from informants.

Pray God will move quickly to reveal the truth regarding the false charges against Vera. Pray those imprisoned unjustly will be faithful witnesses of Jesus' love to everyone they encounter. Pray the Holy Spirit will build up a strong body of believers in Colombia and move in miraculous power to stop the drug trafficking.

Pray for SRI LANKA
SRI LANKA (Christian Solidarity Worldwide)
The Believers' Church in a village in Western Sri Lanka was attacked December 2nd. More than 100 people arrived at the church and told the pastor to stop holding worship services. The crowd then warned him that if he did not close down the church, they would kill him. Later that night the church was attacked with stones and rocks, breaking roof tiles, a door and several windows. An Assemblies of God church has been attacked several times by people throwing excrement against the walls and in a later incident pouring engine oil into their well. Meanwhile a constitutional amendment is being proposed declaring Buddhism to be the state religion.

Pray God will strengthen the faith of all Christians in Sri Lanka. Pray their witness of bold belief and loving forgiveness will bring many into God's Kingdom. Pray God will move in power to prevent the institution of Buddhism as the state religion.

Pray for UKRAINE
UKRAINE (Compass Direct)
On December 2nd, two men assaulted Stanislav Kasprov, director a Christian book publishing house outside the company offices in Cherkassy. He was about to leave that evening for the village of Verguni, to conduct a weekly worship service at a church he pastors there. The attackers beat him with a bat, leaving him bloodied and barely conscious. The attackers remain at large; and although their motives are unknown, evidence suggests that former operatives of the now defunct KGB may have perpetrated the assault.(Click here)

Pray the Lord will heal Kasprov's body quickly and completely. Pray this experience will embolden him to greater zeal in sharing his faith in the Lord. Pray his attackers will be apprehended, justly punished, and come to know the forgiving love of Jesus when they repent.

The Ture Meaning of CHRISTmas

Just bumping this back up to the top

Luke 1:26-38

A Virgin Conceives
26In the sixth month of Elizabeth's pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to the Galilean village of Nazareth 27to a virgin engaged to be married to a man descended from David. His name was Joseph, and the virgin's name, Mary. 28Upon entering, Gabriel greeted her:

Good morning!

You're beautiful with God's beauty,

Beautiful inside and out!

God be with you.

29She was thoroughly shaken, wondering what was behind a greeting like that. 30But the angel assured her, "Mary, you have nothing to fear. God has a surprise for you: 31You will become pregnant and give birth to a son and call his name Jesus.

32He will be great,

be called "Son of the Highest.'

The Lord God will give him

the throne of his father David;

33He will rule Jacob's house forever--

no end, ever, to his kingdom."

34Mary said to the angel, "But how? I've never slept with a man."

35The angel answered,

The Holy Spirit will come upon you,

the power of the Highest hover over you;

Therefore, the child you bring to birth

will be called Holy, Son of God.

36"And did you know that your cousin Elizabeth conceived a son, old as she is? Everyone called her barren, and here she is six months' pregnant! 37Nothing, you see, is impossible with God."

38And Mary said,

Yes, I see it all now:

I'm the Lord's maid, ready to serve.

Let it be with me

just as you say.

Then the angel left her.

Luke 2:1-20

The Birth of Jesus
1About that time Caesar Augustus ordered a census to be taken throughout the Empire. 2This was the first census when Quirinius was governor of
Syria. 3Everyone had to travel to his own ancestral hometown to be accounted for. 4So Joseph went from the Galilean town of Nazareth up to Bethlehem in Judah, David's town, for the census. As a descendant of David, he had to go there. 5He went with Mary, his fiancée, who was pregnant.

6While they were there, the time came for her to give birth. 7She gave birth to a son, her firstborn. She wrapped him in a blanket and laid him in a manger, because there was no room in the hostel.

An Event for Everyone
8There were sheepherders camping in the neighborhood. They had set night watches over their sheep. 9Suddenly, God's angel stood among them and God's glory blazed around them. They were terrified. 10The angel said, "Don't be afraid. I'm here to
announce a great and joyful event that is meant for everybody, worldwide: 11A Savior has just been born in David's town, a Savior who is Messiah and Master. 12This is what you're to look for: a baby wrapped in a blanket and lying in a manger."

13At once the angel was joined by a huge angelic choir singing God's praises:

14Glory to God in the heavenly heights,

Peace to all men and women on earth who please him.

15As the angel choir withdrew into heaven, the sheepherders talked it over. "Let's get over to
Bethlehem as fast as we can and see for ourselves what God has revealed to us." 16They left, running, and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in the manger. 17Seeing was believing. They told everyone they met what the angels had said about this child. 18All who heard the sheepherders were impressed.

19Mary kept all these things to herself, holding them dear, deep within herself. 20The sheepherders returned and let loose, glorifying and praising God for everything they had heard and seen. It turned out exactly the way they'd been told!

This, despite what some people may think, is the only reason we celebrate Christmas. I know that this time of year was at one point a pagan holiday. But I also know that Christians changed it into the celebration of the birth of Christ. This is something I’m planning to research and hopeful place my results on here.

The version of the Bible I got this from was The Message, just in case any one wanted to know.

Sad but True

This poem was emailed to me

'T'was the night before Christmas
and all through the town
Not a sign of Baby Jesus
was anywhere to be found.

The people were all busy
with Christmas time chores
Like decorating, and baking,
and shopping in stores.

No one sang "Away in a manger,
no crib for a bed".
Instead, they sang of Santa
dressed-up in bright red.

Mama watched Martha Stewart,
Papa drank beer from a tap.
As hour upon hour
the presents they'd wrap

When what from the T.V.
did they suddenly hear?
'Cept an ad.. which told
of a big sale at Sears.

So away to the mall
they all flew like a flash...
Buying things on credit...
and others with cash!

And, as they made their way home
From their trip to the mall,
Did they think about Jesus?
Oh, no... not at all.

Their lives were so busy
with their Christmas time things
No time to remember
Christ Jesus, the King.

There were presents to wrap
and cookies to bake.
How could they stop and remember
who died for their sake?

To pray to the Savior...
they had no time to stop.
Because they needed more time
to "Shop til they dropped!"

On Wal-mart! On K-mart!
On Target! On Penney's!
On Hallmark! On Zales!
A quick lunch at Denny's

From the big stores downtown
to the stores at the mall
They would dash away, dash away,
and visit them all!

And up on the roof,
there arose such a clatter
As grandpa hung icicle lights
up on his brand new step ladder.

He hung lights that would flash.
He hung lights that would twirl.
Yet, he never once prayed to Jesus...
Light of the World.

Christ's eyes... how they twinkle!
Christ's Spirit... how merry!
Christ's love... how enormous!
All our burdens... He'll carry!

So instead of being busy,
overworked, and uptight
Let's put Christ back in
Christmas and enjoy
some good nights!

The ACLU

This is just plain crazy, why would the ACLU be chose to fight this. The theory of intelligent design is just as valid a theory as evolution. Both sides can offer up just as much evidence for there theory as the other. I think that this school board should be applauded for taking a stand, hopefully they will stay the course.

This is just another way the ACLU is trying to push its agenda on Americans. Its time to take a stand, and let the ACLU know that they can't push us around. The ACLU is in part paid for with our tax dollars, which in my opinion means they should answer to us, the taxpayers.

The first amendment to The Constitution of the United States says this:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

What the ACLU and others want you to believe is this means that this gives them the right to remove God, as long as it’s the Christian God from everything. But in fact what it says is that Congress can not make or support a state religion.

Facelift

Added some things:

First there is the Verse of the day from the Biblegateway. The version I choose was The Message, simply because it's fun to read.

Next I added the link to TTLB; apparently I had added myself to the Ecosystem, but never linked back to it.

Than we have the Constitution Party link which I think pretty much speaks for itself.

And last but not least I finally got the Blue Letter Bible search to fit on the sidebar and look right.

I would like to thank a few people that have helped shape this blog, so if you don't like it blame them. ;)

First off there is The Flannel Avenger and Miss Patriot if it wasn't for these two this blog would not be here. And more recently there's American Warmonger who as he has been helping others I've more or less have followed behind and more or less copied what he was doing. There was one other but I'm not quite sure he was who he claimed to be.

You Are a Religious Republican

You make up the conservative, Christian, dedicated core of the Republican Party.

You believe it's important for religious people to stand up for their beliefs in politics.

And for you, this means voting your conscience - which almost always means voting Republican.

Your pet causes include the sanctity of life, school vouchers, and prayer in school
.

This mostly ture, but I plan on registering as an independent in the very near furture.

Abstinence

Why would someone get upset over teaching abstinence.

Two facts that no one can dispute, abstinence is the only way to not get pregnant and not catch a STD.
